Working alongside Craven Construction as the design-build architect, AVID Architects leveraged its extensive experience with build-to-rent housing to develop an efficient, repeatable building prototype that balanced constructability with residential character. The team optimized the site layout to maximize a constrained property, streamline construction, and deliver the project on an accelerated schedule without compromising the quality of the resident experience.
The completed development consists of eight three-unit residential buildings that create a neighborhood-scale independent living community adjacent to the existing Briar Hill campus. Each residence includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an attached garage, offering the comfort and functionality of a single-family home within a maintenance-free setting designed for active seniors.
By introducing 24 independent living residences, the project expanded Ohman Family Living's continuum of care while giving residents the opportunity to maintain an active, independent lifestyle without leaving the community they call home.
