Once a cornerstone of Medina’s agricultural economy, the historic Farmers Exchange building had fallen into disrepair after multiple fires and years of vacancy. Once condemned, the structure risked becoming a lost piece of community history despite its rich legacy as the city’s first fireproof building and a Cold War-era bomb shelter.

AVID Architects helped reimagine the Farmers Exchange as a vibrant community destination. Honoring its historical significance while designing for modern needs, the project brought new life to the space with a market, restaurant, brewery, and a collection of local businesses. The design also introduced 16thoughtfully planned apartments on the upper floors, creating a true live, work, play hub.

The once-vacant landmark now serves as a vibrant mixed-use destination, blending apartments, offices, and retail. Its revival preserved the building’s historic character while positioning it as a catalyst for ongoing downtown renewal.
