The six-story, 215,000-square-foot renovation required extensive interior reconfiguration to accommodate the unique operational needs of 13 City of Akron and State of Ohio agencies. AVID Architects modernized building systems, improved accessibility, integrated new technologies, and tailored each space to support departments ranging from the Akron Municipal Court and Clerk of Courts to the Department of Law, Adult Probation, and multiple state offices.

Because court operations remained active throughout construction, security and continuity of operations were critical considerations. Phased construction and carefully coordinated department relocations allowed public services to continue uninterrupted while protecting secure areas and minimizing disruption for staff and visitors.

Today, the Oliver Ocasek Government Office Building is once again fully utilized, bringing essential government services together in one location and giving new purpose to one of downtown Akron's most prominent public buildings.
